Willie Charles Sikes, 80, of Collins died Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Memorial Hospital. Born in Collins, he was the son of William Henry "Willie" and Jewell Boyd Sikes. Charles served in the U.S. Army and was a lifelong farmer in the Pine Grove Community. He was a Deacon of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Charles was a family man. God, his wife, children, grandchildren, church family and many friends were most important to him. He was a teacher in every aspect of his life, teaching Godly values and work ethics each day of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Linda Eason Sikes; three children, Rhonda (Mike) Collins, Alan (Tracy) Sikes and Marsha (Kurtis) Sanders all of Collins; a brother, Robert (Rose) Sikes of Pooler; seven grandchildren, Travis (Lindsey) Collins, Charly C. (Ryan) Burkhalter, Whitman, Rhett and Ethan Sikes, Nikki S. (Wesley) Coley and Sam (Haley) Sanders; four great grandchildren, Lilah Mae Collins, Caleb, Logan and Makayla Coley; his Eason brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2:30 pm, at the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Eason Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, 6-8 pm at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Sam Sanders, Travis Collins, Wesley Coley, Ryan Burkhalter, Glenn Sikes and Whitman Sikes.
