William "Buddy" Sikes

Mr. William Henry Sikes, “Buddy,” age 77, died Friday morning at Memorial University Health in Savannah. Buddy was born in 1939 to the late Clayton Sikes and Annie Lou Lanigan Sikes in Tattnall County. He graduated from Collins High School in 1957. After graduation, he relocated to Savannah where he worked for Economy Feed & Seed and Sears for many years. He then moved to Statesboro in 2001 where he spent the rest of his life. He worked for many years in the Gardening Department at Walmart in Statesboro. He was a member of the Cobbtown Baptist Church.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ann Sikes Powell and Thelma Sikes; and one nephew, Hal Cartee.
He is survived by one sister, Marie Sikes Cartee Williams of Statesboro; one brother, Willis Sikes of Collins; three nieces, Dale (Joe) Parker of Statesboro, Jamie (Tietgen) Sikes Edenfield of Metter, and Rhonda (Dan) Powell Woodard of Smyrna; three nephews, Brian Cartee of Statesboro, Clay Sikes of Collins, and Lane Sikes of Collins; and one brother-in-law, Gene Powell of Statesboro. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive visitors at the Kennedy Funeral Home, Cobbtown Chapel, on Sunday from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. Funeral services will follow the visitation in the chapel of the funeral home with Elder Buck Grantham officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunlight Cemetery in Cobbtown.
