William E. Buddy “Uncle Bud” McNair, husband of Betty Cowart McNair, died early Saturday, June 10, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Jefferson County, he was the son of Louis Ray McNair and Euchlease Donaldson McNair. He was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. McNair was very active in his church. He was the Sunday School teacher for the teens and young adults, a member of the choir, and was involved with various committees. Mr. McNair was a retired farmer and in earlier years he worked as a mechanic for Creston, Inc. in Swainsboro, Jociel in Reidsville, and Ringtex in Metter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-five years, Betty Cowart McNair of Twin City; his sons, Billy McNair (Susan), Pat McNair, and Dale McNair (Karen) all of Metter and Tony McNair of Statesboro; his sister, Jane Ellen Durden of Metter; three grandchildren, William Gabriel McNair, Adam McNair, and Katina McNair Walden; three great-grandchildren, Drew McNair, Peyton McNair, and Michael Walden; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at El Bethel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel
Pallbearers will be Brain McGowan, Lee Durden, Jeff Durden, Barry Coleman, Brad Franklin, and Jimmy McNair.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of El Bethel Baptist Church.
Interment will be in El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
