Willene Rewis Hodges

Willene Rewis Hodges, 73, of Metter, passed away early Thursday morning, April 20, 2023, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born in Collins, Georgia and was a daughter of Milton Rewis and Alice Marie Hancock Rewis.  Mrs. Willene was a homemaker and was a member of the Worldwide Church of God near Savannah.  She truly loved the bible and gospel music as well as playing the piano and the organ.  Willene was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Milton and Ollie Rewis; her mother, Alice Hancock Rewis; a son, Terry Brooks Rewis; a daughter-in-law, Regina Conti-Ellis; and a sister, Ellene Rewis.

Surviving are her children, Jeannie Ellis, Lonnie Ellis, Johnny Ellis, Janet Smith (Danny), and Loria Ellis (Willis Jones); her sisters, Jeri Sowell (Randolph), Thelma Bryant (Christopher) and Marie Rewis (Jack Prough); her brother, Tony Rewis; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 11 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter with Lonnie Ellis officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 o’clock in the morning until the time of the funeral at the funeral home on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Brian Ellis, Austin Ellis, Dylan Ellis, Corey Ellis, and Andrew Ellis.

Interment will follow the service in Brewton Cemetery in Claxton where she will be laid to rest with her son, Terry Brooks Rewis.
