Wayne "Scarecrow" Barnard, of Metter, passed away on February 9, 2025, at Phoebe Putnam Medical Center.
Born in Collins, Georgia, Wayne was the beloved son of Alvin Barnard and Maude Holland Barnard. He lived in Metter for over fifty years and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during the Vietnam War.
Wayne made his mark as a dedicated truck driver, most recently with J and L Trucking. A man of many talents, he enjoyed playing a variety of instruments, including the banjo, fiddle, and piano. He was also a skilled CB operator and mechanic, with a deep love for drag racing.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Kevin, Stanley, David, Ricky, Wendell, and Gary; and a sister, Elaine.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Lynn Barnard; his children, Wayne Barnard, Jr., Tammy Renee Champion, Trey Anderson, and Alexis Anderson; his siblings, Brad Barnard, Bobby Barnard, Timmy Barnard, and Janice Meadows; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom cherished him deeply.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, in Metter. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
