Margaret “Virginia” Kangeter, of Metter and wife of James Kangeter, died Saturday afternoon at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta.
Mrs. Kangeter was born in Metter and lived in Metter all of her life. She was a daughter of S.J. Hursey, Sr and Elvera Holloway Hursey. She attended Pulaski Baptist Church in years past alongside her husband, James. Mrs. Kangeter was retired from Briggs and Stratton having worked on the assembly line there. Over her working career, she worked for several factories including Twin City Manufacturing as well as Metter Manufacturing Company to name a few. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She loved crocheting, sewing, and cooking and she dearly loved her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kangeter was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Joy Kangeter.
Surviving are her husband, James Kangeter of Metter; a son, Jimmy Kangeter (Mary Helen) of Garfield; a daughter, Tina Kangeter Austin (Jason) of Marietta; her grandchildren, Joshua Kangeter (Holley), Jessica Brown (Casey), Jody Kangeter, Breana Kangeter, Blake Kangeter, Olivia Austin, and Trey Austin; great-grandchildren, Lanie, AJ, Brogan, Bailey, and Colt; Sisters-in-law, Nancy Cook (Earl) and Wilma Kangeter; several nieces and nephews; and her dachshund, Matt.
The funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024, at the graveside in Lake Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Blake Kangeter, Jody Kangeter, Josh Kangeter, Rusty Kangeter, Jimmy Wedincamp, and Casey Brown.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
