Versie Sapp Anderson Cribbs, 80, of Register passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015, at her home. She was born in Claxton, the daughter of Minor and Lula Mae Griffin Sapp. Versie had lived in Claxton before moving to Register in 1985. A graduate of Swainsboro Technical College, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 20 years at Evans Memorial Hospital. She carried on the tradition of her mother of baking cakes for everybody, especially her Red Velvet cakes (Um Um Good)! Mrs. Cribbs was a faithful pastor's wife for 26 years and a very active member of the Claxton Progressive Primitive Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Elder Gilbert Cribbs; a brother, Wilton Threatt and a sister, Madie Hughes.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Elder Mike Newman of Metter; four sons and daughters-in-law, Derrell and Sue Anderson of Register, Brian Anderson of Register, Barry and Tammy Anderson of Claxton, Timmy and Charlene Anderson of Goldsboro, NC; sister-in-law, Louise Threatt of Claxton; 16 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 am, at Claxton Progressive Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mike Newman and Elder Jake Futch officiating. Burial will be in the Anderson Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening, 5:30-7:30, at her church in Claxton. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
