Treecy Leggett Burns

Treecy Leggett Burns, 70, of Cobbtown died Friday, April 25, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Appling County, she was the daughter of Ira Lee and Ollie Mae Griffin Leggett. She was a graduate of Appling County High School and lived in Augusta for 36 years before moving to Cobbtown in 2003. Treecy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a homemaker. She was a member of the Hillside Church of God and was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Hattie Mae Lane and a brother, Royce Leggett.

Survivors are her husband of 47 years, Edwin “Ed” Burns of Cobbtown; a son, Kim Allen (Tracy) Burns of Augusta; two daughters, Sheila (Chris) Chavous of Augusta, and Sharon Luke (Tommy Rauton) of Cobbtown; four brothers, I.J., Maxwell, and Charlie Leggett all of Appling County and Edward Leggett of Hazelhurst; two sisters, Ruby Lewis of Hazelhurst and Jeannette Pearce of Appling County; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Bethany Luke both of Cobbtown.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, 3:00 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Sunlight Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Joel Watson, Jeffrey Williamson, Nicholas Luke, Joey Lewis, M.C. Leggett and Dale Johnson.
