Talmadge Hayes, 81, of Collins and husband of Lois Pope Hayes died Thursday, June 8, 2017 at his residence under the care of Community Hospice and his family.
Born in Lyons, he was the son of John Henry Hayes and Mary Vann Dunn Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. He worked in construction when he lived in Miami, Florida and returned to Collins in 1975 and worked at Plant Vogel before retiring. He loved hunting and fishing, working in his garden, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his humor and whit.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Lois Marie Pope Hayes of Collins; his sons, Gary Hayes of Bumpus, Virginia and Wayne Hayes of Collins; two grandchildren, Gary Hayes and Christopher Wayne Hayes; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary Hayes, Alex Hayes. And Hunter Hayes.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5 until 7 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
Interment will be in Sunlight Cemetery.
