Walter Lewis “Sonny” Braddy, Jr., 82, passed away Monday morning, November 7, 2016 in Metter, Ga. Sonny was born in Metter on February 14, 1934. He was a graduate of Metter High School and a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. In 1957 he married Helen Johnson of Twin City. They went on to be married 59 years. Sonny and Helen owned and operated the regional Standard Oil distributorship for many years. Sonny also owned and operated Live Oak Acres where he raised cattle and chickens. He was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and as a member of the Metter Masonic Lodge recently received recognition for his 50 years of service. He loved all things outdoors and enjoyed his time on his farm but nothing compared to his love and enjoyment of his three grandchildren. They were truly his pride and joy!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lewis Braddy, Sr. and Aileen Williams Braddy.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Johnson Braddy, of Metter; two children, Walter Lewis Braddy III (Butch) of Savannah; Belinda Braddy Warnell, and son-in-law, Bill Warnell, of Athens, GA; three grandchildren, Davis B. Warnell, of Arlington, VA, Summer Rae Braddy, of Savannah, GA, and Ansley Elizabeth Warnell, of Athens, GA

The funeral will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday at the graveside at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The visitation will be from 9 until 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Toby Braddy, Jake Daughtry, Dwayne Tucker, Buie Leverett, Homer Bell, Burton Sconyers, Bradd Craft, and Davis Warnell.
