Shirley Ann Steele

Shirley Ann Fordham Steele, age 83, passed away on April 10, 2025 at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation in Metter. Shirley was born to the late Johnny “Buddy” Fordham and Minnie Lou Bowers Fordham on June 24, 1941 in Metter. She was married to the late Glenn Erwin Steele.

After attending Metter High School, Shirley worked for many years as a seamstress. She was a Christian by faith, and attended New Life Church when she was able. She liked to sew, dance, do yard work and spend time outdoors. She loved her “grandpuppies” Deuce and Miley, and above all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchild, and they loved her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Shirley is preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Fordham; and sisters, Betty Shelton and Dot Purvis.

Those who will cherish Shirley’s memory include her son, Scott (Susan) Steele; daughter, Glenda Ann Oglesby; sisters, Martha Faye Collins, Judy Morgan, Linda Sewell, and Earlene Wilson; grandchildren, Ashley (Claire) Aldrich, and Ashlyn Steele; great-grandchild, Natalie Aldrich, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Kennedy Funeral Home, Hooks Chapel of Metter on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 10-11 AM.

A funeral service will be held at Kennedy Funeral Home, Hooks Chapel of Metter on Saturday April 12, 2025 at 11 AM.

Burial will follow at Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Affinis Hospice or the Azalea Health and Rehabilitation Activities Department.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel of Metter is in charge of all arrangements.
