Ruth Carolyn Mercer Funderburk, 93, of Cobbtown and wife of Ellis “Jad” Funderburk, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at her residence.

Born in Cobbtown, She was a daughter of Clem Mercer and Alma Collins Mercer.  Mrs. Funderburk was the oldest member of Evergreen Baptist Church, having joined in 1945 and taught Sunday school there for many years.  She was retired from The Tattnall/Evans Service Center and had a love for cooking.  In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Funderburk was preceded in death by a daughter Dale Funderburk; her sisters, Dot Rhoden, Bernice McArthur, Margaret Mercer; and her brothers, Howard Mercer and Louie Mercer.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Olivia Funderburk of Cobbtown; her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Bobby Lynn of Cobbtown; her grandchildren, Bob Lynn (Janna) of Ludowici and Melanie McCullough (Robby) of Cobbtown; five great-grandchildren, James McCullough (Ashley), Brittany McCullough, Carolyn Cason, Jared Lynn, and Carlee Lynn; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.

The funeral service will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.

Interment will follow in Sunlight Cemetery in Cobbtown.

Remembrances may be made to the Evergreen Baptist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, c/o David Jernigan, 3913 Tillman Eason Rd, Claxton, Georgia  30417.
