Roberto Roy Garza, of Cobbtown, passed away Saturday, November 09, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Garza was born on April 7, 1947 and was the oldest of twelve Children of Roy and Francis Garza. In 1980 he married the love of his life, Jan Crook and the two were married for thirty-seven years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in Vietnam, Granada, Lebanon, The Cuban Missile Crissis and Operation Desert Storm. After his retirement from a twenty-two plus stint with the Navy, Mr. Garza began his career as a Truck Driver. He and his wife, Jan, owned and operated Jan’s Hauling until his retirement in 2017. Mr. Garza loved his family and especially his grandchildren who he had special pet names for. In addition to his parents, Mr. Garza was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Garza and Diana Garza.
Surviving are his daughters, Sandy Garza Goodwin of Statesboro, of Ruth Garza Morgan of Jacksonville, Tonnette Garza-Prevatt and her husband, David, of Jacksonville, and Amanda Garza Sutton and her husband, Kevin of Cobbtown; Robert Garza and his wife, Jessica of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Jonathan Alexander, Christopher “Watermellon” Garza and his wife, Alyssa, Corinthia Morris, Amorette “Apple Pie” Garza, Courtney “Cortozone” Whitfield, Angel “Boney Butt” Garza, Ashlynn “Gator” Goodwin, Tuari “Trucker” Fitzwater, Sonnette “Wiggly” Fitzwater, Robie ”Mr. Clean” Fitzwater, Jameson Prevatt, Robert Garza, III, Aaron Garza, Isaac Garza, Jacob Garza and Cody Garza; several great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, of Cobbtown.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 14 at 1:30 pm at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
The interment will be at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery Monday, November 18, 2024 at one o'clock in the afternoon.
