Robert Lee "Bobby" Kennedy, Jr., 86, of Cobbtown died Monday, October 27, 2014, at his home. A lifelong resident of Cobbtown, he was the son of Robert Lee Kennedy, Sr. and Nina Beatrice Sikes Kennedy who preceded him in death. He served two years in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II and was a retired rural mail carrier in Tattnall and Toombs Counties. For the past 30 years, he had spent all his summers at his home in Shellman Bluff. Bobby was a member and Deacon of the Cobbtown Baptist Church and the Fisherman Sunday School Class.
Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Gennie C. Kennedy of Cobbtown; a daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Jimmy Sikes of Milledgeville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Clifton Lee and Wanda Cowart Kennedy of Savannah, Robert Bird "Buddy" and Jennifer Page Kennedy and John Fisher Kennedy all of Cobbtown; seven grandchildren, Jim Sikes, Rob Kennedy, triplets, Hannah, Rebecca and Allison Kennedy, Cliff Kennedy and Ashley K. Lammons; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am, at the Cobbtown Baptist Church with Lansome Newsome and Rev. Raymond Trent officiating. Burial will be in the Sunlight Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 pm, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Larry Dean Collins, Danny Ray Collins, Buddy Collins, Keith Harvey, James Coe and Carroll Oliver. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Hess, Jerry Craft, Dickie Collins, Don Hensley, Vaughn Lanier, Hugh Williamson, Kenny Hunter and members of Fisherman Sunday School Class.
