Remer Joe Collins, 70, of Cobbtown, Georgia died of colon cancer in the home he shared with his daughter, Christian Angelique Collins, and granddaughter, Andersen Jin Matsusaka, on January 25, 2019 in Mililani, Hawaii.
Remer was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He spent his younger years in Statesboro and Atlanta where he worked as a telephone electrician, was married to Sandra Crawford Collins and raised his only child. After retirement, he went back to Cobbtown to be the full-time caregiver for his mother Gertrude “Charlie” Collins and later elder sister, Gloria Mercer. This brought him closer to his nieces, Louisa Hensley and Kimberly Cowart as well as his sister, Sally Thompson. While in Georgia he spent time fishing with friends, serving as a Lions Club member, working part-time at Lowe’s, and going to church.
The last three years of his life was spent with his daughter, granddaughter, and grandanimals in Hawaii fulfilling his desire to be a part of their everyday lives.
He is remembered for being a kind and loving man, amazing listener, biblical historian, and laid back good friend to many.
