Reginald "Po Jo" Edward Burroughs, 84, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Reginald will always be remembered by his family as being a living, breathing example of love. Some people considered Reginald to be "disabled" because he had limited use of his arms and legs. The Bible teaches that the greatest of abilities is nothing, if we do not have love. Therefore, those who knew him, understand that he was actually more "able" than most because of his great ability to love. His very being represented an amazing love, free of any demands.
This gentle soul found great joy in some of life's simple pleasures. His favorites included cornbread, a glass bottle of coke with peanuts added, or watching a yellow school bus pass by. He also found much joy in a simple work hammer, which was rubbed smooth by his hands after many years. His favorite gift was always a visit or a little time spent with him. He never failed to greet any of these joys with a jolly shout and a wave of his hand. He will always be remembered by his friends and family as a person who made the world a better place, just because he was in it. His smile and compassionate ways will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Issac Charlie and Florrie Wealthy Wildes Burroughs; a brother, Durrell Burroughs; a sister, Jeanette B. Lee; several half-brothers and half-sisters.
Survivors are his sister and brother-in-law, Lyneve and Kell Long of Statesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Dorothy Burroughs of McDonough; lots of loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, a great-great-great nephew, and loving cousins and friends.
