Ray Louis Arthur of Statesboro passed away after heart failure on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
Born in Metter, Georgia to Grady and Cora Arthur, Ray was the third eldest in a family of nine children. Later in his childhood, the family relocated to Brunswick, Georgia. Ray graduated from Glynn Academy in 1959 and entered the insurance sales business. He then went into the automobile business, his passion, until his retirement.
Ray enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar and singing and spending time with his family and many friends. He was a dedicated GSU Eagle and UGA Bulldog Fan. Ray was always seen enjoying the game and telling stories with his friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Paige Ownbey and several siblings.
Surviving are his son, Ray Arthur, Jr.; his daughters, Desiree Stoecker (Chris) and Kristin Lupien (John); his son-in-law, Vern Ownbey; his grandchildren, Daniel Moseley, Cooper Ownbey, Bryce Bailey, Charlotte Lupien, Ben Lupien; his siblings, Sherry Authur Messer, Larry Arthur, and Terry Arthur; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held 11 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, December 17, 2022, in Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will gather at Wild Wings on Highway 67 in Statesboro after the service.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
