Ralph Gouldsmith, 65, of Claxton died peacefully Thursday, October 18, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. He was a 1965 Collins High School graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Ralph was a self-employed truck driver for the past 40 years. Claxton became home in 1988 after leaving Collins. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and an outdoorsman who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his children, Raymond and Monica Gouldsmith and his father, Roy Gouldsmith.
Survivors are his wife, Sandra P. Gouldsmith of Claxton; his mother, Marian LaVerne Mulling Guin of Claxton; a son, James Gouldsmith of Rosenberg, TX; a daughter, Christina Jimenez of Claxton; a step-son, David Smith of Pensacola, FL; four grandchildren, Brittney Chapman, Joey, Monica and Aleigha Jimenez; two great grandchildren, Sophia and J.R. Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2:00 PM, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Rev. Marty Walker and Rev. Jonathan Brown officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Donald Wrenn, Greg Mulling, Rodney Mulling, Lester Davidson, Mike Holland, Abraham Elizondo, James Gouldsmith and Joseph Jimenez. Cremation will follow the service and later he will be buried in Cedar Creek Cemetery with his children. Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
