Phillip John Finnerty, 77, of Pulaski and husband of Wanda Sikes Finnerty died Thursday, August 3, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Penn Yan, New York he was the son of Francis and Izora Turner Finnerty. Mr. Finnerty was a member of New Life Baptist Church. He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Finnerty was retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections and went on to work for St. Josephs-Candler Medical Laboratory where he worked as the Laboratory Supervisor for many years before retiring from there. He was a member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association and loved hunting and raising hunting dogs at which time he had his own Kennel.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Sikes Finnerty of Pulaski; four sons, Brian Finnerty (Tina) of North Augusta, South Carolina, Shawn Finnerty (Sanjay Gupta) of Sterling, Virginia, Patrick Finnerty (Jennifer) of Baxley, and Garrett Jarrell (Sharon) of Metter; a daughter, Jansin Jarrell of Pulaski; sister, Diane Petty of Apopka, Florida; grandchildren, Kara Virella (Joseph), Blake Finnerty, Shelby Finnerty, Reagan Finnerty, Jordan Finnerty, Ryan Finnerty, Keagan Jarrell, Kylie Ann Jarrell, and Peyton Finnerty; one great-grandchild, Harper Fayth Virella; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 5 until 7 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church.
The funeral will be held Sunday, August 6, 2017 at New Life Baptist Church at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
Interment will be private.
