Paul Huel Thain, 77, of Reidsville passed away Monday, November 30, 2015, at his home. Born in Metter, the son of the late Milton Purdy and Fairy Webster Thain, he had lived most of his life in Reidsville. A 1956 Metter High School graduate, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Paul and his wife, Lila, owned and operated Thain's 5 &10 in Reidsville and Lyons for many years. He was a Collins, Georgia rural mail carrier for more than 15 years and a licensed electrician.
Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Lila Lee Thain of Reidsville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Huel and Bonnie Thain of Dalton, Joel and Karen Thain of Suwanee and Ruel Thain of Sharpsburg; a brother, Fred Thain of Kings Mountain, NC; two sisters, Phebe McGee of Acworth and Nan Wood of Winterville; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2:00 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with George Lee, Don Barber and Phillip Farris officiating. Burial will be in the Thain Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6-8 pm, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kyle Thain, Devin Thain, Calvin Thain and Basil Thain and Stan Trotter and Ted Carnes.
