Mr. Pablo Lopez Cruz, 77 years old passed away on July 4, 2013 at his home surrounded by all his loving family. Mr. Cruz was born in Nuevo Balcones Coahuila., Mexico and became a U.S. citizen in 1959. After he became a citizen he also helped his brothers and sisters obtain their residency and have lived in San Antonio, Texas ever since. After making the effort to seek employment he was hired by a very kind rancher at the Vic Montgomery ranch in Ozona, Texas and started off as a cook and worked his way up by becoming a foreman overseeing 21, 000 acres of ranch. After years he relocated in the state of Florida as a crew leader in the harvesting of Citrus Groves. During these years he migrated to other states including Ohio, Michigan, and North Carolina performing seasonal agriculture work of other crops. After so many years he settled in Collins, Georgia and worked in the Onion Harvest. During his lifetime as crew leader he helped many farmers with various crops. As a Crew leader he always ensured that the farmers were satisfied with his work and strived to become the best crew in the field. Many farmers appreciated his hard work while others took advantage but as the saying goes, "YOU SOW WHAT YOU SEED". His hobbies were maintaining his farm where he raised cattle, goats, chickens and horses. He also, enjoyed attending the animal auctions held in Lyons and Hazelhurst where he purchased many animals to bring home mainly for his grandchildren to enjoy and become familiar with the farm life.
