Norman H. Hirsch, 76, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Ogeechee Hospice. Born in Illinois, he moved to Metter in 2004 from Auburndale, Florida. Norman retired as a newspaper printer with the New York Times and later became a restaurant owner and chef. As a young boy, he was an Eagle Scout; he played high school football and was a Moose for 30 years. Norman's dream to move to Georgia to hunt deer full time became a reality in 2004. He was preceded in death by three children, Karen Hirsch, Rusty Hirsch and Deborah S. Meagher.

Survivors are his wife, Shirley Scarlott-Hirsch of Metter; a son, Randy Hirsch of Lakeland, FL; three daughters, Kathy S. Rafnal of Tallahassee, FL, Candice S. Morrison of Brandon, FL and Tami Scarlott of Metter; two brothers, Rev. Bob Hirsch of California and Richard Hirsch of Metter; two grandsons, Riston Hirsch of Bartow, FL and Rocky Hirsch of Lakeland, FL and eight Scarlott grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Brother Mark Dentler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers are Rocky Hirsch, Michael White, Jared Brown, Chester Anderson, Charles NeSmith and Gary Howard. Guest book: www.kennedyfuneralhomechapels.com.
