Neva Boyette Long, 89, widow of Jackson Long passed away early Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Bethany Home of Vidalia.
Born in Collins, she was the daughter of Elton and Nannie Lou Boyette. Mrs. Long was a long-time member of the Collins United Methodist Church. She lived in Florida for many years working for Southern Bell as a telephone operator. Before returning home to Collins. She worked for over 29 years at Rubye’s Restaurant.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Neva was preceded in death by her two sisters, Lauvonne Jarriel and Delores Jarriel.
Surviving are her chosen daughter, Janice Johnsen of Jacksonville; and nieces and nephews, Patsy Blalock of Vidalia, Hilda Collins of Cobbtown, George Jarriel of Collins, Nan Branch of Lyons, Lester Jarriel of Collins, Karen Paradice of Collins, Tommy Jarriel of Cobbtown, and Harriet Smith of Glennville.
The funeral will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel at 3 o’clock in the afternoon with Rev. David Blalock officiating. Visitation being held from 1:30 until the funeral hour on Saturday.
Interment will be in Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
