Nell Coleman Collins, of Cobbtown, and widow of Richard “Dickey” Delano Collins, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Collins was born in Cobbtown and was a daughter of Molsby “Jake” Coleman and Ruby Thrift Coleman. She was a homemaker and attended The Branch Church in Cobbtown. Mrs. Collins was a 1955 graduate of Collins High School. Mrs. Collins had an amazing faith and had a heart to serve. She was well known for loving her community. She was a great cook and enjoyed taking meals to families, ensuring that everyone was taken care of. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Collins was a gathering place for people all over to worship and pray for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dickey” Delano Collins; two sons, Richard D. Collins, Jr. and William D. “Billy” Collins; a sister, Mary Ann Fluet; and a half-sister, Willie Williams.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Collins and Mike (Donna) Collins all of Cobbtown; her grandchildren, Hope (Chris) Carr, Paige (Toby Upshaw) Collins, William (Madison) Collins, Julie Collins and Joy Collins; a great-grandchild, Laney Carr; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10 until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at The Branch Church in Cobbtown.
The graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Sunlight Cemetery.
