Nancy Durden Lanier

Nancy Durden Lanier, 78, of Metter, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Ogeechee Area Hospice. Born in Cobbtown, the daughter of the late Leon Vasco and Annie Bell Glisson Durden, she has devoted her life to taking care of her family. In the past year, she has given great care to her husband as his health declined. She loved to cook, always looking for new recipes. Playing the piano, sewing, tending to her potted plants was her pleasure. Nancy was active in the garden club in her early years, winning events with her creative exhibits.

Survivors are her husband, Charles Lanier of Metter; three sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney and Bonnie Lanier of Swainsboro, Stanley and Connie Lanier, Stevie and Dennie Kay Lanier all of Metter; grandchildren, Luke Lanier and wife, Susannah of Metter, Leah Frye and husband, Zac of Swainsboro, Adrienne and Abbey Lanier, Rhett and Haley Lanier all of Metter; two great granddaughters, Ansley and Avery Frye of Swainsboro; two brothers, Jimmy and wife, Marge Durden of California and Johnny Durden and friend, Dot Wright of Shellman Bluff.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2:00 pm, at Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Craig Lanier and Elder Sam Bowen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be Friday, 5:30-7:30 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Luke Lanier, Rhett Lanier, Jerry Lanier, J.L. Ward, Zac Frye and Morgan Trapnell.
