Modrea Hackle Collins, 92, of Collins and widow of Clifford Collins, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born in Claxton, she was a daughter of Ernie Hackle and Mattie Lou Thrift Hackle. Mrs. Collins married her husband Clifford on January 31, 1948 and were married for over fifty-five years until his death in 2003. She was a homemaker and worked the farm alongside her husband in Collins for the majority of her life and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Collins. She was known for her gentle spirit and loved to sew and quilt as well as putting up vegetables, reading and working puzzles and watching gameshows on television. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hannah Collins, her siblings and sisters and brothers-in-law, Alvie Hackle (Alvena), Audrey Roberts (Junior), Dellorah Wickham (Jack), E.C. Hackle (Lilly), Ellie Hackle (Dovie Lee), Geraldine Provence (Joe), J.H. Collins, Adell Sapp (Fred), Loree Anderson (Jeff), Cleon Shuman, and Hilda Hackle.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd and Polly Collins of Kite, Billy and Tammy Collins of Collins; daughters and sons-in-law, Minnie and Larry Bowers of Statesboro, Lynette and Randy Woodcock of Middleburg, Florida, and Sandra and Mike Kelshaw of Lagrange; grandchildren, Sonja Elia, Melissa Bowers, Matt Kelshaw (Lindsay), Cliff Collins, Wendy Stone, Sara Collins, Ben Collins (Marisa), and Katie Collins; great-grandchildren, Macee Stone, Reagan Elia, Isabella Elia, Jett Stone, Graham Kelshaw, Jaxx Stone, and Eden Kelshaw; a brother, Jan Hackle (Juanita) of Claxton; sisters-in-law, Bertha Shuman of Collins and Janie Sikes (Ronnie) of Metter, and Betty Collins of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
The funeral will be held 11 o’clock in the morning, Friday, January 3, 2020 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel with Rev. Jim Rogers officiating.
Interment will be in Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Shuman, Calvin Shuman, Kyle Sapp, Al Hackle, Allen Hackle, and Barry Hackle.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
