M.L. Brantley, 72, of Metter, and husband of Debra Brantley, died late Monday evening, August 24, 2020 at Candler County Hospital in Metter.
Born in Candler County, he was a son of Woodrow and Dollie Brantley. M.L. was a charter member of Cedar Street Baptist Church where he presently attended and was a charter member of New Life Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Marines. M.L. was a propane delivery guy for over thirty-six years. After retirement, he went to work for O’Reilly Auto Parts in Metter and retired from there in May of this year. He was a member of the VFW Post #5893 Metter Georgia. M.L. loved his family and he loved to fish.
Surviving are his wife, Debra Brantley of Metter; a daughter, Nikki Brantley of Metter; a granddaughter, Alexa Newkirk of Metter; his twin sister, Janelle Thompson (George) of Stockbridge, his brothers, James Brantley (Allette) and Stan Brantley (Sandy) all of Metter; Sisters, Sue Nelson of Huntsville, Alabama, Kay Moseley (Bill) of Orange Park, Florida, and Brenda Cannon (Ellis) of St. Simons Island; sisters-in-law, Vivian Collins of Cobbtown and Marilyn Collins of Cobbtown; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter beginning at 5 o’clock in the afternoon.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Cedar Street Baptist Church with Rev. Bo Fulginiti officiating.
Pallbearers will be Metz Davidson, Randy Zerwig, Joey Crapps, Bill Thompson, Larry Sikes, and T.L. Jackson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Coffee Crew of Randy’s Wrecker Service, Metter High School Class of 1965, employees of O’Reilly Auto Parts and the VFW Post # 5893 Metter, Georgia.
All CDC and Social Distancing Guidelines will be observed at the funeral home for visitation and the church for the service. Face Mask are suggested.
Interment will be in Sunlight Cemetery in Cobbtown.
