Mildred Anderson Sikes, 84, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Hospice Savannah. Born in Collins, she was the daughter of Ottis and Vesti Oliver Anderson. She was a 1948 graduate of Collins High School and lived most of her life in Reidsville. Mildred worked as a nanny, taking care of children for two families for 20 years. She was devout in her faith as a member of the Collins Full Gospel Tabernacle and loved crafts, quilting, crocheting and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son and the father of her children, Louis Sikes; a grandson, James David Kowalski; a brother, Ottis Anderson, Jr and a son-in-law, Dale Morris.

Survivors are a son, Robert Franklin Sikes of Savannah; three daughters Linda (Dennis) Kowalski of Mableton, Angela (Bruce) Bass of Rome and Brenda Morris (Oz Prescott) of Vidalia; two brothers, Calvin (Mildred) Anderson and Steve Anderson both of Collins; four sisters, Myrtle Mauke of Prattville, AL, Margaret Green of Cobbtown, Frances Bradley of Register and Jean Rewis of Darien; three grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2:00 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Rev. Steve Kimbrell officiating. Burial will be in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, 6-8 pm, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Keith Bradley, Jimmy Anderson, Jeremy Gore, Darrell Green, Donald See and Carroll Oliver.
