Melba Wildes McManus, 81, of the Hillview Community died unexpectedly Monday, November 23, 2015, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Troy and Clara Sapp Wildes and was born and died in the same home in Hillview, which she had returned to in 1963. A 1951 graduate of Collins High School, Melba was valedictorian of her class. She retired in 1996 as bookkeeper for Cal-Maine Foods in Metter. Melba was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devout Christian, servant and caregiver for many family members.
Survivors are her husband of 56 years, Van McManus; son and daughter-in-law, Neill and Krista McManus; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Bobby Greene all of the Hillview Community; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:00 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Elder Sam Bowen officiating and Bishop Tommy Powell assisting. Burial will be in the Anderson Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5:00-7:00 pm, at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Guest book: www.kennedyfuneralhomechapels.com.
