Mary Kathleen Lanier Goodwin

Mary Kathleen Lanier Goodwin, 87, of Metter, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Goodwin was born in Macon, Georgia and was the daughter of Julian Barksdale and Leola Hobbs Barksdale. She was retired having worked in the home healthcare industry for many years. During her working career, she worked as a CNA with Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, Georgia among other jobs.  In 2006, Mrs. Goodwin moved back to Metter. She was married to Jeff Lanier for thirty-nine years until his death in 1989. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church. She loved visiting with friends, spending time with family and she loved to watch movies. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Goodwin was preceded in death by two of her sons, Mike Lanier and Paul Lanier and two of her daughters, Marcia Shepherd and Sharon Nelson.

Surviving are her daughters, Renee (David) Fordham of Metter and Cindy Walker of Metter; her sons, Chris Lanier of Metter, and Richard (Debra) Lanier of McDonough and Jeff (Missy) Lanier of Metter; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter with Rev. Bill Vansant officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 until the time of the funeral at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Interment will be in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
