Mary Gladys Carter Rybczyk

Mary Gladys Carter Rybczyk of Metter passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at her residence under the care of her family and Ogeechee Area Hospice.

She was born in Cobbtown and was a daughter of James Otis Carter and Nana Mae Toler.  Mrs. Rybczyk was a homemaker and lived in Highland Springs Virginia for many years before moving to Metter in 2005.  Mrs. Rybczyk was a 1956 Graduate of Collins High School.  She enjoyed painting pictures of all kinds, and she enjoyed being a mother.

Surviving are her husband, Matthew Rybczyk of Metter; two sons, Michael (Julie) Petty of Smithfield, Virginia and Brian Allen (Kristen) Petty of Emporia, Virginia; three daughters, Catherine “Cathy” Crane of Lawrenceville, Virginia, Leigh Ann Earls of Metter, and Barbara Sue (Gary) Wyatt of Palmira, Virginia; a step-daughter, Michelle Kennedy of Michigan; her brothers, Thomas Carter of Ft. Valley, Georgia and Preston Carter of Tallahassee, Florida; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 10 until 11 o’clock in the morning at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, of Cobbtown.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
