Marion "Rut" Louis Rutledge, 89, of Cobbtown, died early Tuesday morning, November 1, 2016 at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation in Metter.
Mr. Rutledge was born in Centralia Washington and was the only child of Marion and Gladys Caldwell Rutledge. He lived in Odessa, Texas for several years before moving to Cobbtown in the mid 1990’s. Mr. Rutledge was a member of the Cobbtown United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Rutledge worked in pipeline construction all over the country during the time of the Alaskan Pipeline Construction. in recent years, he was known for his traveling all over Cobbtown on his golf cart. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rutledge was preceded in death by his wife, Neilous Collins and a son William H. “Toyah” Taylor.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and John Johnson of Cobbtown; a son and two daughters-in-law, John A. and Jean Taylor of Ace, Texas and Debbie Taylor of Louisiana; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6 until 8 o’clock at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., November 5, 2016 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
Interment will be in Sunlight Cemetery.
