Marilyn Wallace Deal, 76, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Candler County Hospital. A lifelong Candler County resident, she was the daughter of Robert Edenfield Wallace and Leta Blackburn Wallace. She was a 1954 graduate of Metter High School and a member of the Cedar Street Baptist Church. For many years, she was employed at Pineland Telephone and was assistant manager at Friedman Jewelers. Marilyn later retired from Belk as an Elizabeth Arden representative. She loved being Mema and flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Williams.
Survivors are her husband of 35 years, Glenn Deal of Metter; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Lydgia Davis of Pulaski; three daughters and a son-in-law, Tammy and Tony Smith of Statesboro, Pamela Deal of Statesboro and Carley Austin of Metter; a sister, Billie Jo Lott Banister of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Sabrina Smith Cone, Adam Davis, Justin Davis and Connor Hodgkins; five great grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan and Emily Cone, Adylee and Asher Davis.
A funeral service in celebration of Marilyn's life will be held Tuesday, 2:00 PM, at the Cedar Street Baptist Church with Rev. Casey Shaw and Rev. Jon Edmenston officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be Monday, 6-8 PM, at the funeral home.
