Marcus Cayne Monroe

Marcus “Cayne” Monroe, 38, of Metter, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at his residence.

Cayne was born in Metter and lived there all of his life.  He was of the Baptist faith and was a graduate of David Emanuel Academy and Ogeechee Technical College.  Cayne worked as a welder and pipefitter for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant before going to work for Savannah International Paper in 2015.  Cayne loved hunting and fishing.  He loved to cook and was known for cooking many dishes well including Crab Stew, Salmon Stew, and grilling chicken just to name a few.  He especially loved to cook when his daughter, Cadyn, came to visit.  Cayne was a collector of baseball cards over the years and had quite a collection.  Cayne loved his family and especially loved spending time with Cadyn and visiting his grandmother.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Claude Ellis Hadden, his paternal grandparents, Evelyn and Ira Monroe, an uncle, Terry Ellis “Tab” Hadden, an aunt, Michelle Leigh Monroe, and a cousin, Amy Riddle.

Surviving are his daughter, Cadyn Lyn Monroe of Glennville; his mother, Diane Hadden Monroe of Metter; his father, Mark Monroe of Cobbtown; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Creech Hadden of Metter; his half-brothers, Marley Bertrand, Justin Bertrand, and Zack Bertrand; his aunts and uncles, Christy Hadden Schuman, Gary Hadden, Lesia Purvis Hadden, Bobby and Pam Cowart, Mike and Sylvia Monroe, and Mikki and Bruce Ward; and several cousins.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel of Metter.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel of Metter with Rev. Bo Fulginiti officiating. Burial will be private.
