Dateline: Metter Lucy Lanier, 72, of Mulberry, FL died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Bartow Regional Hospital. One of 12 children, she was the daughter of the late Grady and Beulah Thrift Lanier. While living in Stone Mountain, GA, she retired from Southern Bell in 1991. After retirement, she enjoyed golfing and traveling. Lucy was an avid gardener and loved being outdoors. She was a member of the Imperial Lakes Baptist Church in Lakeland. Survivors are a brother, Jack D. Lanier of Sanford, FL; two sisters, Octavia Smith of Metter and JoAnn Lanier of Mulberry, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 AM, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 5:30-7:30 PM, at the funeral home.
