Lila (Lee) Thain

Lila Jane Lee Thain passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Big Springs Village Assisted Living in Cedartown, Georgia.

Mrs. Thain was born in Ocala, Florida and was the daughter of Noble Lee and Lucy Florence McCown Lee.  Lila was raised on a farm and was a daddy’s girl.  She was often found helping her father and as early as age three she was driving a horse & wagon as well as a tractor.  After completing high school, she worked for Norris Cattle Company doing accounts payables and payroll.  She later married Paul Thain and moved to Reidsville, GA, where she managed their retail variety store business Thain’s 5 & 10. She also raised three sons and managed the household.  She later worked for the US Postal Service and was Postmaster Relief for the Collins, GA Post Office.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Huel Thain and a son Huel Lee Thain.

Surviving are two sons, Joel Thain (Karen) and Ruel Thain; grandchildren, Kyle Thain, Caitlin Kelley, Anja Thain, Devin Thain, Calvin Thain, Haley Thain, Basil Thain, and sibling C.K. Lee Sr. and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, in Metter, GA.  Visitation will be 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be in Thain Cemetery.
