Truman “Lee” Glisson, 83, of Metter, GA passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of South Georgia.
Lee was born on December 9, 1940 in Guyton, GA to Morris and Freddie Glisson. He was a veteran of the United States Airforce and Army. Lee retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic control officer, which led to his being stationed in many different areas of the country, including Alaska. Lee married the love of his life, Jeannie in 1974, and they settled down in Metter, GA in 1994, where they made their home. Lee had a vigorous admiration for traveling any chance that he could get. He also made endless efforts to visit with friends and family and enjoyed making memories and capturing every moment between. He was an avid golfer, with a tremendous love for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves, and enjoyed the fellowship with all of his golf friends at Willow Lake. He was a member of Excelsior Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and an active member of the choir. Lee loved the Lord, and used any opportunity he had to share that love with others. He was the greatest example of what it meant to be a loving father and Papa to all his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Lee is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years Jeannie Glisson, brothers Vic Glisson, Ed Glisson, Lewis Glisson, sister Katherine Glisson Lively, and daughter Jill Bernardi.
He is survived by his children Sherrie Harkleroad (Allen) of Statesboro, GA, Scott Glisson (Robyn) of Jesup, GA, Lee Bernardi (Rachel) of Spirit Lake, ID, and Dan Glisson (Becky) of Spokane, WA, sisters Margie Kirkland of Waynesboro, GA, and Alice Deal (Travis) of Metter, GA, brother-in-law Hugh Vann (Joan) of St. Simons Island, GA, grandchildren Rachel Underwood, Summer Carver, Brittney Lewis, Jordan McLane, Justin McLane, Korey Bernardi, Kendra Bernardi, Jacob Bernardi, Daniel Glisson, Carlee Glisson, and Abbee Glisson, many cherished Great-grandchildren, and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
