Laura Pearl Dickey Cook, 93, of Metter died Monday, January 26, 2015, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation in Metter. Born in Savannah, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Dickey and Mattie Pearl Dickey, she lived most of her life in Metter. She was a clerk at Candler Pharmacy for 27 years. She loved crafts and making "pouting babies" and game quiz shows. Mrs. Cook was a member of the Metter Primitive Baptist Church since 1951. She was the widow Alton Cook.
Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Frances Cook of Metter, Herman and Vickie Cook of Greenwood, SC and Howard Cook of Metter; a daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Gene Cheshire of Callahan, FL; a sister, Mary Lee Little of Springfield; six grandchildren, Tina Wells, Andy Cook, Joshua Cook, Brittany Cook, Jeffrey Deal, Jennifer Reeves and step-granddaughter, Renee Cheshire; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, at the Metter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mike Newman officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, 6-8 pm, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Joshua Cook, Jeffrey Deal, Andy Cook, Glyn Thrift, Robert Smith, Rob Bowen and Andy Bowen.
