Lanelle H. Jarriel, age 83 of Metter passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, at The Gardens at Gentilly in Statesboro, under the care of Regency Hospice.

She was born in Cobbtown and was a daughter of Charlie and Christine Holland.  Mrs. Jarriel worked for Pineland State Bank for forty-seven years. During her time there she served as President and at the time of her retirement she was the Vice President of the bank.  Mrs. Jarriel served on several committees within the banking industry and was recognized by President Ronald Reagan for her service to the Coastal Area Banking Committees.  Locally, Mrs. Jarriel served her community in several capacities.  She served on the Metter-Candler Chamber of Commerce from 1978 until 1993 and on the Metter Candler County Industrial Authority Board. Mrs. Jarriel was the chairperson for the Blood Mobile for several years.  She help organized the Metter Business  and Professional Women’s Club in 1973 and was selected as Woman of the Year in 1979.  She received the Outstanding and Dedicated Service to the Community Award by the Metter Rotary Club.  In 1982, she was awarded the Georgia FBLA Business Person of the Year Award at the FBLA Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.  She was elected to the Candler County Hospital Board of Directors for twelve years and served as chairman of that board for three of those years.  Mrs. Jarriel also served for many years on the board of tax assessors for Candler County.  She was an active member of Metter Primitive Baptist church where she sang in the choir and was in charge of the Golden Agers Fellowship Group.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray F. Jarriel; two sons, Chris Franklin Jarriel and Danny Ray Jarriel; a daughter, Debra Kay Jarriel; a brother, Louis Holland; and a sister, Wanda Kay Holland.

Surviving are her daughter, Dawn Page (Michael) of Cobbtown; her brother, Charles Holland of Cobbtown; her sister, Billy Sue Belvin of Eulonia, Ga; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Jarriel; a sister-in-law, Sue Holland; five grandchildren Jaime (Chris) Medlock, John Michael (Catharine) Page, Nikki (Allen) Jenkins, Allen Warren, and Pam (Wendell) Motes; Eight Great Grandchildren: two Great Great Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening at Metter Primitive Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 11 o’clock in the morning at Metter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mike Newman officiating. Mrs. Jarriel will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Burial will follow in Primitive Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery
