Kermit Jerome Martin, 86, of Cobbtown passed away Wednesday, November 04, 2015, at the Griffin House in Claxton. A lifelong resident of Tattnall County, he was born in Collins, the son of Clyde and Janie Lynn Martin, and lived in Cobbtown most of his adult life. He graduated from Georgia Southern College and taught school a year before entering the U.S. Army. Kermit was owner and operator of Martin's TV Repair for over 50 years. He was a fire chief for the Cobbtown Fire Department over 40 years and worked with the Tattnall County Civil Defense. Kermit attended the Sunlight Primitive Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Cobbtown Lions Club. He was chosen as the first Cobbtown Citizen of the Year.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Collins Martin and his parents.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Karen Martin of Hoboken; a daughter, Kay Martin Sikes of Collins; a brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Martha Martin of Cobbtown; five grandchildren, Carrie M. Newman, Jeannie M. Murray, Adrian Martin, Joshua Martin and Taylor Martin, Clay Sikes and Jamie Sikes Edenfield; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 1:00 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel with Elder Richard Davis officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Friday morning. Burial will be in the Sunlight Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Martin, Don Martin, Jim Martin, Bradley Martin, Ronnie Funderburk and Larry Dean Collins.
