Kenny Ray Youmans, 80, of Metter died Sunday, January 24, 2016, at Ogeechee Area Hospice. A Candler County native, he was a 1953 Metter High School graduate. Ray served 27 years in the United States Air Force as a NCOIC of missile maintenance at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri. After military retirement in 1981, he returned to Metter where he worked at Wallace Computer Services for 15 years. He then worked at Willow Lake Country Club as pro shop attendant until November, 2015. Ray was a member of the Metter Primitive Baptist Church and a proud supporter of the Metter athletic programs. He was a wonderful husband, father, PaPa and friend. Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Henrietta Youmans Collins and a daughter, Carol Youmans McLamb.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years Roberta Cardell Youmans of Metter; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenny Ray Youmans, Jr. and wife, JoAnn of Elsberry, Missouri and Carson Ray McLamb of Metter; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kim and Rodney Lee of Metter and Ashley McLamb of Savannah; three grandchildren, Patrick (Krista) Youmans, Kenna (Brian) Hudson and Rebeka Lee; six great grandchildren, Masen Gideon, Claire Youmans, Caleb Hudson, Parker Youmans, Alexander Hudson and Millie Grace Youmans; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:00 pm, at the Metter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mike Newman officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Cemetery with Military Honors observed. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5:30-8:00 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Dale Fordham, Greg Wolfe, Glenn Cardell, Dale Sikes, Dwayne Sikes, Don Sikes, Terry Manuel, Mike Purvis and Jessie Ray Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Willow Lake Men's Golf Association and Staff.
