Katherine McDaniel Jordan, 60, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at her son's home in Metter under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. A Swainsboro native and longtime resident, she was the daughter of Ernest Lee and Mary Bell O. McDaniel. Katherine was a 1970 graduate of Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Springs, GA. In 2004, Katherine received a B.S. Degree in English from Georgia Southern University.

She is a member of the Southeastern Club for the Deaf, Georgia Association of the Deaf, Chatham County Association of the Deaf and the New Life Baptist Church in Metter. She has a love of education and literature, and involving herself for improvements in the deaf community. She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors are her husband, John Jordan, Sr. of Metter; a daughter, Kathryna "Tara" J. Doyle (Fred) of Loganville; a son, John Jordan, Jr. (Kellie) of Metter; her mother, Mary Bell Peterson of Dublin; a brother, Ernest Lee McDaniel, Jr. (Wendy) of Macon; three sisters, Barbara Hickfang (David) of Lilburn, Janice McDaniel and Kandi Flanders (O.L.) both of Kite; six grandchildren, Jarred, Matt and Josh Jordan, Michelle Gregory, Kasey and Mac Doyle; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 3:00 PM, at New Life Baptist Church with burial in the Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6-8 PM, also at New Life Baptist Church.
