Joyce Smith Jones

Joyce Smith Jones, born June 8, 1940, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home on December 28, 2024 in Brunswick, Georgia, surrounded by her loving family.

At the age of 12, Joyce moved with her parents to St. Simons Island, Georgia where she spent much of her formative years. She graduated from Glynn Academy and married her husband, Irby F. “Sonny” Jones and together they built a life with three children.

Joyce loved cooking and baking for her family gatherings, especially during the holidays. She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also cultivated many lifelong friendships and was known for her warm and welcoming spirit. Joyce enjoyed playing Bridge with friends, a pastime that brought her both joy and connection throughout the years.

She is survived by a son, Donald Jones (Lisa); two daughters, Julie Kroscavage (Mike) and Robyn Glisson (Scott); grandchildren Casey Jones, Hannah Kroscavage, Logan Kroscavage, Rachel Underwood (WJ) and Summer Carver (Brady); and great grandchildren, Jackson Underwood, Grayson Underwood and Reese Carver.

May Joyce’s memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Bay Harbour Church of God in Brunswick.  The family will receive friends from 10 o’clock until the time of the funeral at the Church on Friday.

Interment will be held in Oglethorpe Cemetery on St. Simmons Island.
