Johnnie Hugh Holland, 90, passed away on Saturday June 26, 2021 at home in Jacksonville, FL.

He was born on March 19, 1931 in Manassas, Ga (Tatnall County) to Brooks and Gladys Holland. He was a graduate of Collins High School in 1949. After high school he joined the Georgia National Guard but transferred to the U. S. Navy at the start of the Korean Conflict. After being Honorably discharged in May 1954 after 4 years in the Navy he returned to Georgia and married Virginia Collins July 10,1954. Mr. Holland then began a long career with Mary Carter Paint Company and was a Vice President of sales until he retired. After retirement he went back to farming specializing in Vidalia Onions. He was nicknamed “Jumbo” for raising some of the largest Vidalia’s for many years in Georgia. In his later years he greatly enjoyed old westerns TV shows, like John Wayne, Audie Murphy, Roy Rogers, and others. Also shows like Gunsmoke, The Virginian, Wagon Train, etc. He was preceded in death 11 years ago by his wife of 58 years, Virginia C. Holland and a newborn son Hugh David Holland in the early 1960’s.

Survivors include his loving and devoted daughters, Debra Holland and Carol Jane Tamborelli (Vaughn Maurer); 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 8, 2021 in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32211. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon in Sunlight Cemetery in Cobbtown, Georgia.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the local arrangements.
