John "Doc" William Whittle

John “Doc” William Whittle, of Cobbtown and husband of Grace “Darlene” Whittle, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. Whittle has lived in the Cobbtown community for the past 23 years of his life. Before he moved to Georgia, Mr. Whittle served as an EMT and firefighter in the Vigilant Fire Company of West Seneca, NY. He went through basic training at Fort Benning Army Base before serving in Vietnam as a combat medic from 1969-1972.  Mr. Whittle was a guitar player, loved music and horses, played in many bands, and had an avid guitar collection. When he wasn’t enjoying music, he liked to spend his free time watching football and baseball or telling stories that made people laugh. Mr. Whittle is preceded in death by his wife, Grace “Darlene” Whittle; his brother, Walt Whittle.

Surviving are his step-daughter, Kelly Perry; daughters; Shanda Whittle and Kathryn Kennedy; sisters, Sandy Brookshire and Mildred Bennett; cousin, Walter Harper; and his granddaughters, Katelan Perry and Rachel Perry.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 12-1 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.

The Funeral service will be Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes Cobbtown Chapel.

Interment will follow at Connors Baptist Church Cemetery.
