Metter
John Kelly Wilkes, III, 55, died Friday, August 25, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Reidsville, he was the son of John Kelly Wilkes, II and Lajuan Anderson Schwartz. He lived in Homerville for a number of years before returning to Metter several years ago. John was a Baptist and a 1979 graduate of Pinewood Christian Academy. He later received his degree in mechanical tech from Swainsboro Tech. John owned and operated his own business “Always There Air” in Homerville and could fix anything. He loved music, reading, and taking care of his mother. John donated a lot of his time to work at Guido Gardens where Dr. Michael Guido was a mentor to him.
Surviving are his mother, LaJuan Anderson Schwartz of Metter; his sister and brother-in-law, Deborah Wilkes Curlin and her husband, Mike of Statesboro; and several cousins.
The memorial service will be held Monday at 6 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.
