Joel Castillo Contreras

Joel “Miguel” Castillo Contreras, age 52, of Metter, Ga. peacefully departed this earthly world on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at his residence.

Born to Roberto Castillo Aparicio and Faustina Contreras Gonzalez in Huaquechula, Atlixco, Mexico and resided much of his adult life in Metter, Ga. where he enjoyed fishing, celebrating life with his friends and coworkers and working in farming and construction.

He is survived by his mother Faustina Contreras Gonzalez of Puebla, Mexico, two children Jayda Guadalupe Small and Juan Carlos Small of Statesboro, GA, brothers and sisters, Cenorina Contreras, Francisco Castillo, Domingo Castillo, Manuel Castillo, Margarita Castillo, Arnulfo Castillo, Angelica Castillo, Manuela Castillo, and Angeles Castillo of Puebla, Mexico, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends whom he cherished deeply.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter with Pastor Santiago Jimenez officiating.

Interment will be in Lake Cemetery in Metter, Ga.  Pallbearers will be Jaime Olarte, Justin Estrada, Felipe Ortiz, Jose Flores, Gilberto Leyva and Francisco Garcia.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to his friend/brother Jaime Olarte, Jose Flores and all of the friends who pulled together during this challenging time to help lay him to rest, your efforts have been such a blessing and have not gone unnoticed!

Nacido de Roberto Castillo Aparicio y Faustina Contreras González en Huaquechula, Atlixco, México y residió gran parte de su vida adulta en Metter, Ga. donde disfrutó de la pesca, celebrando la vida con sus amigos y compañeros de trabajo y trabajando en agricultura y construcción.

La visita se llevará a cabo el martes 7 de septiembre de 2021 de 6:00 a 8:00 PM en Kennedy Funeral Homes, Capilla de Hooks, de Metter.
El funeral se celebrará el miércoles 8 de septiembre de 2021 a las 11:00 de la mañana en Kennedy Funeral Homes, Capilla Hooks, de Metter con el Pastor Santiago Jiménez oficiando.
