Jim Frank Olliff, 94, of Metter and husband of the late Joy Brantley Olliff, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017.

Mr. Olliff was born in Metter and was the son of the late Frank H. and Julia Donaldson Olliff.  He was a graduate of Metter High School.  Mr. Olliff was a veteran of the United States Army having served in both Europe and Japan during World War II. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, The Philippine Liberation Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with four bronze Stars.  Mr. Olliff worked for Georgia Power for several years before starting his own business, Jim’s Electrical and Plumbing Service. He was a past County Commissioner for Candler County serving his community for two terms in the 1980’s.  He loved football, especially the Metter High School, where he was a member of the chain gang, and almost never missed a game. Mr. Olliff also loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Olliff was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years, Joy Brantley Olliff; and his siblings, W. D. Olliff, Simmons Olliff, Julia Dell Dixon, and Isabel Wingate.

He is survived by his five children: Beth (John) Young of Eatonton, Lamar (Anne) Olliff of Lakeland, Florida, Robert Olliff of Savannah, Kenny (Connie) Olliff of Kennesaw and Danny (Brenda) Olliff of Metter. He also has twelve grandchildren: Kimberly Young Phillips, Kristopher Young, Jenni Olliff Brinson, Julie Olliff, Rainey and Hannah Olliff, Shannon Olliff, Claudia Olliff Montford, Ramsee Olliff Fields, Emily Olliff Register, Danielle Olliff and Natalie Olliff Turner. His legacy is also continued through 19 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 4 until 6 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

The funeral will be held Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Metter First Baptist Church.  The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Interment will follow in Lake Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Ritter, Shannon Olliff, Dusty Montford, Weston Fields, Jeff Register, and Clint Turner.
