Jerry Coleman Jarriel, Sr., 92, of the Cedar Creek Community near Collins died Monday, March 4, 2013, at Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Tattnall County native was the son of the late Troy and the late Bessie Coleman Jarriel. He was an U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II and also served in the Korean Conflict. Jerry received an Associate Degree from Armstrong State College and after 45 years of employment, he retired from the Burroughs Corporation. While living in Savannah for more than 50 years, he was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.

In 1989 after retirement, he and his wife, Mary, returned to the family home place. Mr. Jarriel was a member of the Cobbtown First Baptist Church and attended Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Flake Jarriel.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry, Jr. and Jan Jarriel of Collins; a daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Steve Kauble of Tulsa, OK; a sister, Faye Anderson of Collins; four grandchildren, Beth J. (David) Bodily, Gary (Donnie) Jarriel, Stephen Kauble and Sarah Kauble; two great grandchildren, Mitchell and Darci Bodily; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, at the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Lee Chambers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 PM, at the funeral home. Military honors will be observed. Pallbearers will be Jackie Moody, Dan West, Richard Parrish, Stephen Kauble, Gary Jarriel and Steve West.
