Jerry Dewayne Hendrix, 63, of Portal passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Born in Statesboro, he was a son of the late Clyde Hendrix and Gertrude Meeks Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix lived in Portal all his life and was a retired Truck Driver having been self-employed. He was a member of the Portal United Methodist Church and graduated from Portal High School in 1972. Mr. Hendrix enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and a great love of motorcycles.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Sikes Hendrix of Metter; three daughters, Lynn Hendrix (Amy) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Christy Hendrix Deal (Brian) of Brooklet, Brandi Strickland (Mike) of Augusta; a son, Charles Edward Rushing of Portal; his sister, Linda Reddick of Statesboro; and a brother, Tommy Hendrix of Portal; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 12 noon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel with Rev. Chip Grantham officiating.
Burial will be in Portal City Cemetery.
